One of the most popular topics in /x/ is Lucid Dreaming and how to achieve it, and the wonderful consequences, my questions is, is there any possible danger in doing that? Of turning it into a lucid nightmare or some sort of damage to the brain?

I tried lucid dreaming for a while. It wasn't anything particularly DANGEROUS, but I can tell you the negative effects I had.
It left me absolutely exhausted and the process took hours for me to fall asleep with anyway. So in the end, I only got a few hours of sleep, which were fitful and restless. I decided to stop, because I was in school at the time and I was constantly tired during classes. I do plan on trying again, as I do think it would have gone away with practice. I just couldn't practice it at that time.

My girlfriend has sleep paralysis and/or night terrors everytime she tries it. But she's the most suited to tell you about her own experience.
Edit: Ah hell. She beat me to it.
I never tried it myself, pretty much because I often realize I'm dreaming if things get too bizarre and I always wake myself up when that happens(although -I- have no control over it. It's more of dream-me going "oh i'm dreaming. welp, time to wake up.").

As far as I know, in a lucide dream you are aware that everything is a dream and you can control what happens on it. Am I wrong?

Lucid dreaming is basically hypnotizing yourself as you fall asleep, letting you be semi-conscious and control some things. The trick of it is to REALIZE you're dreaming in a dream and have some kind of object or process in the dream where you know it's a dream and not reality. For example, some documents say to try flipping a lightswitch on or off. If nothing happens, you know it's a dream.
After you know you're not awake, you can basically do whatever you want without fear, and knowing you can bend reality, you can try. I have a friend who essentially has never had a nightmare for about ten years because he can lucid dream easily. He pulls out a broken pocketwatch he has irl, looks at it in the dream, and the watch works if he's dreaming. From there he can turn any nightmare into something he wants. Some murderer is in your house, killing your family? Turn a pencil on your desk into a machine gun and fire away.

Sounds more like someone's been watching too much Inception, honestly.
You can also look at yourself in the mirror. Your face will always be different from what it really is.

Nah, those are just indicators that you use to tell if you're dreaming. It can be something like that, or a word on your hand that you write before you sleep. If it's not there, it's a dream, etc.
Yeah, the mirror thing is always a significator. But I'd find it easier to have an object or writing on you, in case the dream starts in some cave without mirrors or lightswitches.
It -is- cool. It's always interested me. Endless possibilities and a world of your own? That. Is. Neat.

Sounds cool, paranormally cool.
I tried one of the basic steps to trigger a lucid drea, starting a dream diary. I had one for a time, but I quickl abandoned it, that's my bane, I lack discipline. Nevertheless, now I can remember much more dreams than I used to.

Every time I write my dreams down I end up going into (10 page more like) stories about them, last saturday I had a dream I wanted to remember so I wrote it down and spent 8 hours writing it all.
Gonna have to summarize these things I guess

The only real dangers I've heard of are disassociation of reality (the dreams seem more "real") or real life just being boring in comparison.
Then again, I RARELY remember my dreams, so I dunno...
